Being transparent, I am not a runner and still asking myself how I have ended up with a personal ballot place for The London Marathon (as the odds are similar to winning the lottery).
On paper it seemed such a good idea at the time, but now the realisation of the challenge ahead has kicked in. 26.2 miles (42km) will be a massive challenge.
Now the good news; I am following the TCS London Marathon Beginner's 16 week training plan and you have my 100% commitment that I will not miss a run (three a week) or a gym session.
I am inspired to be raising money for Salvation Army refuge and homelessness projects; dedicated funding for a new climbing frame in a scheme to be used by children fleeing domestic violence and a summerhouse in homeless accommodation for young people and families. Small projects that will make a massive difference.
Thank you so much for supporting me (fingers crossed not to be stretchered off, although being honest can't guarantee it) and your donations will make such a huge difference.
Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course (lets hope that includes me!) – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace.
Participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
