My Story
I am running the 2024 London Marathon in aid of Brain Research UK!
After saying in 2019 that I'd never do it again...I'm excited (and terrified) to be running the marathon in April this year.
I am raising money for Brain Research UK, a cause very close to my heart. They are the UK's leading national funder dedicated to research into neurological conditions, including brain tumours.
Ash's Story
Earlier this year, my boyfriend Ash was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma (MB), a brain tumour that is extremely rare in adults.
MB is the most common high-grade brain cancer in children. Signs and symptoms include headaches, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, dizziness, double vision and poor coordination.
By the end of 2023, Ash has had 2 craniotomys, had a hydrocephalus shunt fitted and 6 weeks of intensive chemoradiation treatment followed by 6 cycles of chemotherapy. We are in awe of the surgeons, nurses and doctors who are helping Ash throughout his journey. They have worked tirelessly all whilst always having a big smile on their face.
I'm so pleased to say that as of September 2023, Ash is in remission and is now focusing on his recovery and a happy and healthy life ahead.
Ash has remained so strong and resilient throughout the hardest year of his life. We are all so proud of him ❤️
Brain Research UK are improving the outlook for people with brain tumours by funding research that takes forward our understanding of the mechanisms underlying tumour development, and helps develop better ways to diagnose these tumours.
Help me to make a difference - your support means that we can continue to fund life-changing research and help save lives every year.
Thank you so much for reading and for your support 💙
