My Story

In April 2022, I lost my dad to suicide. Sadly it was me who found my dad after arriving home from from university. It has been a massive loss not only to me but to Widnes Running Club, where he was well known as Mr Widnes.

Throughout my dads life he completed 82 marathons but London was one that he never got the chance to run. I have a necklace containing some of my dads ashes so getting to complete the London marathon would be like he was doing it too.

My Dad was also a Hillsborough survivor which is where his mental health issues originally stemmed from, as a result of this he has campaigned for justice for years and raised lots for charity through that. Only 2 years ago he climbed Ben Nevis raising a total of £32,000.

I myself have also struggled with my mental health since I was 15 and have accessed counselling as well as other services available to me.

I would like to run the marathon to raise awareness surrounding mental health issues and to stop the stigma that follows people who suffer from a mental illness.
