My Story

I’ve been privileged enough to grow up in the world of Horse Racing. From the age of 17,  I left my hometown in Northern Ireland, to pursue a career on both the Flat and over Jumps.

My career was short lived when I was unfortunate enough to have sustained a fall that resulted in a broken neck. With the support of the IJF and Racing Welfare, I’ve been extremely lucky to continue in this physically and mentally demanding industry. This would never have been made available without the support of Racing Welfare, the guidance, and dedication of this charity has enabled me to continue through the challenges of my recovery and more.

For this reason, I’m thrilled to have been given the opportunity to run on behalf of Racing Welfare. A charity very close to my heart, and one that supports each and every dedicated individual in Racing.

Some may say I’m slightly mad, but I’ve always been a keen runner- and this lead to me to join Devizes Running Club. This has seen me enter not one, but two half Marathons leading up to the big day! This has always been on my bucket list, and to say I’m excited is an understatement.

Here’s to crossing the finishing line, all donations, big or small, are very much appreciated.

Ps. please keep an eye on this page for regular training updates.

Thanks all, Richard (Cozzie).
