My Story

There are now 110,000 people in the UK living with muscle wasting conditions and Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic disorder that personally affects my beautiful family.

I know first hand the effect the disorder has on physical and mental well being and the uncertainty the condition creates for the future. The condition is degenerative and there are currently no cures, only treatments to support the length of mobility.

On Sunday 21st April I will be running the TCS London Marathon and want to use this opportunity to raise as much money as possible for Muscular Dystrophy UK. I last ran the London Marathon in 2007 so this is very much a challenge for me as I am no athlete! However I know how important supporting Muscular Dystrophy UK is as the charity will be there for my family over the years ahead in good times and bad.

A bit about MD UK, they are the leading charity for muscle wasting conditions in the UK and they do their work in a few ways.

  • They share expert advice and help people with the condition to live well now.
  • They provide funding for groundbreaking research.
  • They support the NHS with univeral access to specialist healthcare.
  • They campaign for better rights and understanding.

This is something very personal to me and my family and we would be exceptionally grateful for any sponsorship/donations you can afford to enable the continued support the organisation offers us.
