My Story

As an advocate for physical activity, it's been a long term ambition to do the London mararhon. I have tried unsuccesfully to get a ballot place over many years BUT now have a place and I'm incredibly excited to take part. I'm fully focused on getting round the course in the best time possible and i'm really pushing myself in the training and enjoying the challenge.

Whilst my place hasn't been allocated by Movember, I have chosen to fundraise for this charity for a number of reasons. As a business owner and employer of 25+ people, mostly male, the issue of mental health within the workforce has become increasingly more prevalent. The stresses and strains of modern life are having an effect on lots of men and I have experienced that first hand.

Over the past 12 months I have faced difficult challenges in my own personal life and have found physical activity an incredibly important tool for supporting my mental health. I was also brought up by a psycho-dynamic counsellor and so have an acute understanding around mental health.

These factors drew me to Movember, a charity who focus on mens health, in particular mental health and suicide prevention (the biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK).

I'm just delighted to be running the marathon and taking part in this iconic event, if at the same time I can raise some money for an amazing charity well that's a fantastic bonus.

Many thanks for your support and would love to see you on race day in London.
