Robs London Marathon Journey

My Story

I was fortunate enough to survive Childhood Cancer at just 11 years old and have been blessed to be all clear now for 22 years.
I had a bladder tumour and at the time I was the youngest person in Britain to have this type of cancer normally common in 65-78 year old men. My operation to remove the tumour was filmed and is used in medical science due to my age.
After my operation I then had a haemorrhage and lost most of the blood from my body putting me in hospital for another month of treatment and for years I missed a lot of my childhood making memories with my friends with all the follow ups I had.

This charity has always been close to my heart and now I have kids myself I can only imagine the pain and worry my parents went through watching me battle. With the incredible support from Children with Cancer it could really help family's going through similar in hard times.

This will be my 3rd and final London Marathon. At the time of writing this I've managed to raise over £30,000 for charity and I won't stop while I can still help make a difference and help support a child battling this awful disease. Before the Marathon I have set myself the target on completing Peterborough Half Marathon on Sunday 14th October with just 5 weeks training. I managed to complete this in a personal best of 2hours 12 minutes. As if this wasn't enough I then set myself the challenge of doing The Rauceby Ripper 9 miles cross country through fields and woodlands. On Saturday 4th February not only did I complete this I managed to run the whole course despite the conditions and climbing 410ft during the race. I'm looking after myself better to prepare for this and I'm currently over 5 stone lighter in training.

I put a lot of my own time and effort into helping others, volunteering  and helping young children enjoy football so any support back would be gratefully appreciated.

Buckle up and enjoy the journey as I go from Fat Lad 2 Running Dad one last time...🙏
