My Story

I am running the London Marathon in 2025 to raise money for Look UK.

I was running in 2024, but due to an injury I had to defer for a year.

When I started at University in 2019 I made contact with Look UK and became a mentee, they paired me with a visually impaired mentor who was also a musician. This helped with my transition to university, making it a more manageable experience. I was able to connect with someone who could give specific advice relating to my needs as both a visually impaired student and musician. This helped to ensure that my time at university was a success. I had been to university before but the experience was difficult to navigate and I decided that it wasn’t the right option. With the support of my Mentor and Look UK I was able to graduate with a 1st class degree and go on to be a Mentor for other students. Look are an important part of my support network and I really value the work they do.
Look UK work with families and students to support them with the challenges faced by young people with visual impairments, this includes the mentor programme, workshops and support groups. They also have a holiday let which is available to families to use and run an accessible festival each summer.
I have started my training and already had blisters and a twisted ankle! (Although these weren’t technically training related, these were because I took Carli out in flip flops…Not Carli, me!) Which means I need you to sponsor me because I am a) Accident prone and b) Awesome
