My Story

Running the London Marathon for Helen and Douglas House is a very exciting and special moment for me. I can combine trying to achieve a goal that I sadly missed last year, when I collapsed at mile 23 (38km) during the Barcelona Marathon and couldn’t finish, and running for an incredible Charity that is close to mine and my family’s heart.

My family have been supporting Helen and Douglas House for many years now, so it felt right to be able to help them in my own way. I have seen firsthand the incredible impact that this organisation has on families in Oxfordshire, whilst working with the team during a University summer. They provide one-to-one respite and end of life care for children, creating happy memories during the most difficult times. Despite the heartbreaking circumstances, the team at Helen & Douglas House make it feel special and full of laughter - even bringing penguins to visit!

I know that every penny counts when it comes to supporting this amazing charity. That's why I'm asking for your help in reaching my fundraising goal of £2,500. Your donation could make a huge difference in the lives of these children and their families. For example:

- £10 could pay for PPE equipment.

- £25 could pay for an hour's phone call from a community nurse specialist to help a terminally ill child.

- £50 could pay for the first emergency consultation.

- £76 could pay for two bereavement counselling sessions.

- £213 could pay for a doctor's home visit.

- £472 could pay for network Saturdays, where teenagers with life limited conditions get a chance to hang out with friends.

I have run with many friends over the years, and it would mean a lot to me to finish this marathon while raising money for such a worthwhile cause.
