My Story

Life can be hard for all of us at different times for many reasons.

Over the years I have struggled with my Mental Health because of my sexuality and nearly losing my job because of it. I was told everything about me was wrong. I didn't know about the Samaritans,  but it would have been so helpful to have someone to talk to, I couldn't trust anyone at the time. Thankfully I've come out the other side of it and am in a good place mentally, but I'm aware so many are not so fortunate.

I'm running with the official Charity of the Year for the 2024 TCS London Marathon, to show millions of people that no matter what they're facing, a Samaritan will face it with them.

Jan 15th was Blue Monday, a time where statistically people can be at their lowest. Samaritans run Brew Monday, a way to get us talking to friends, colleagues, strangers over a brew. As a Samaritan I recognise the importance of having someone to talk to and so I provided tea and cake on Brew Monday to raise donations for the Samaritans.

I have participated in the Runner's World podcast, sharing my story and talking about being a Samaritans volunteer.

I have been interviewed for other media channels and hope to open the Running Show for the London Marathon.

I want to help others, so every step I take and pound raised can help to train more volunteers, answer more calls for help and, ultimately, save lives. We want everyone to know that there is always someone to talk to, day or night.

We believe in tomorrow and together we can save lives.
