My Story

I'm running the London Marathon for Chordoma Uk in April 2024, a charity funding research in Chordoma, a rare bone cancer found in the spine.

Chordoma is not a well known cancer. It only effects one in a million so there is limited funding for research. I hope the money we raise will help future Chordoma patients.

The story is not a complicated one.

Our family was perfect and we were ticking along. We have four children aged between 16 and 8. Life was busy, hectic but good.

In March 2023 when we went to Menorca to celebrate my 40th. My wife began to get a pain in her back. Carolyn returned back to the UK and was seen by a doctor. Following a consultation via the app she was sent for physio. The pain continued and a visit again to doctors in June she was sent for an urgent MRI.

We went on a family summer holiday the pain became significantly worse. When we returned we went for the MRI and in early August we received the results that it was a suspect Chordoma.

This was confirmed in September in Birmingham.

I am not the fittest. I am overweight and go to the gym for the spa.

However, I am doing this as my fight against cancer.
