Tom & Karen’s London Marathon 2024
My Story
We can hardly believe that after all these years of watching it unfold on the BBC - and thinking folk must be mad to put themselves through it on a Sunday morning - we have only gone and signed ourselves up for the 2024 London Marathon!!
What at one time would have felt more than achievable, now feels like quite a daunting ask - whilst trying to avoid further injury or aggrevating ongoing ailments! Plus, one of us always said we'd run it by the age of 40 ... better late than never ...
But we'll get each other through it either by quiet words of encouragement (or shouting if required) or by carrying one another over the finish line.
We have a long winter of runs ahead and have apologised to the children already for the long bike rides they will have to endure during training ... but, just as we always do, we will do it as a family and they will play an equally important part too.
We are running this marathon in support of Willen Hospice who we are so blessed to have on our doorstep. We will never take for granted the important work that they do - and we are so blessed to hear families experiences first hand, of the incredible care their loved ones have received - all the while, providing it for free!
Working there no longer feels enough - we want to do more - so what better way to do it, than to tick this iconic race off the bucket list and be able to say 'We've run the London Marathon for Willen Hospice'.
Less than 20% of the care they provide is funded by the Governemnt and the rest is raised through donations from generous people like you! So please dig deep and give as much as you can and we promise never to ask again...
