My Story

In my last fundraising event it was completely off the cuff challenge, I run the Northampton half marathon without training and in the last 2k depsite the amazing time, (1:47:01)....it nearly destroyed me.

Raising money for the Lowdown spurred me on and this time I need to put in serious training to complete this challenge to prevent injury and also to raise money again, for such a worthwhile service.

The lowdown is a voluntary Mental Health charity, providing free and confidential counselling, emotional wellbeing, health  services for 11-25 year olds.

I volunteered there as a counsellor for 5 years, back in early 2000s.  This deeply humbled and inspired me.  In fact, it acted as a springboard moving me out of working in factories and agency jobs to a career working with disadvantaged and socially excluded children.  I now work as a service manager for Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT).

The staff and volunteers at this charity do an amazing job supporting the community of Northamptonshire.  Please get behind them and donate so they can continue to support those that need that additonal support, when they most need it.

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.

Thanks for supporting my fundraising!
