About us
The Avenues Youth Project has been one of London's leading youth centres since 1979.
Our mission is to give hope and opportunities to children and young people from around our West London neighbourhood, so they discover their voice and fulfil their potential. The Avenues team of youth workers provides a safe, caring space, where each year over 1,000 young people come to socialise, learn and develop into responsible young adults.
Open 6 days a week, 48 weeks a year, our after-school and holiday programmes take place in our purpose-built centre in North Westminster. Activities encompass sport, healthy cooking, music, art, dance, radio, skills development and career pathways. Delivered by our experienced team, the work is child-centred and promotes enjoyment, collaboration and individually tailored support towards personal development.
Young people are encouraged to become volunteers, participate in social action, and use their voices to share their ideas, opinions and needs, which in turn helps us shape the youth programmes. Each year we train 10-12 young people as youth support workers, and develop the most able into fully trained youth workers.
We are committed to the highest quality of youth work and hold the Gold Level London Youth Quality Mark - the badge of excellence for our sector, recognised by City and Guilds, local authorities and funders. We are entirely reliant on fundraising and donations to keep The Avenues going, so we are very grateful for your support.
