London Marathon for Vision Action
Charlotte Morgan
My Story
In April this year I will be running London Marathon for Vision Action. Together me and Hannah are trying to aim to raise 4k for vision action. This is a charity me, my family and work have supported for a long time due to the brilliant work they do.
In 2017 I went to Ethiopia with Vision Aid Overseas (now vision action). For 2 weeks I, with a team of volunteers, tested eyes and provided glasses in a local village Nekemte, and the surrounding schools.
Most people had never had a sight test before, and we found people with prescriptions as high as -20.00 not wearing any glasses.
One of the leading causes of blindness in the world is uncorrected refractive effor ( not having glasses), and this is something we take for granted. The difference a pair of glasses makes mean that children can see in school and people can go out to work to earn money for their families.
Vision Action is one of the charities that makes all this possible and I had first hand experience in what a difference this makes to people's lives.
