After entering the ballot for many years - I finally have the opportunity to run the London Marathon this year
...This is despite saying after my last road marathon I would never do another - and after Seville Marathon as part of the training block for Londln, I am fully standing by this being my final marathon! I've never previously followed a training plan but can truly say I've been training SO hard for this. There's been lots of extremely early mornings in really grim weather... and lots of loops around the industrial estate in Alfreton!
All that said I'm really excited knowing I'll have done my best and I'm also sharing this to ask for your generosity please, in helping me raise as much money as possible for a great cause. I'm aiming to raise ÂŁ1000 (or more if possible!) for NAYC (Northamptonshire Association of Youth Clubs) & ACUK (Action Centres UK) who do fantastic work to support and educate young people across the country, and help them to see their potential. This is primarily through providing opportunities they otherwise wouldn't have the means to enjoy, that they can learn and gain confidence from taking part in, often through leisure activities. There's lots more info on their website https://naycacuk.co.uk/ about the work they do, and the money raised this year by their team of runners will help schools to to support families who aren't able to afford opportunities so often taken for granted, like residential school trips.
If you can afford to make any donation at all - and no amount is too small - it would be SO appreciated.
The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the worldâs sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.
Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course â which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.
Whatâs more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the eventâs history â living up to its aim of helping participants âto have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled worldâ.
